In the discussion of Marius’ new araregama, Phillip mentioned you can’t wipe it in the usual way during gozumi, given the bumpy texture. How, if at all, is it wiped during gozumi?
It is wiped, in the same pattern. However, rather than wiping, it is more of a dabbing along the surface. I have never been told a specific number of dabs, but of course you want to leave enough water behind that the lines are continuous.
